This is a 3D Printing Website and Business — Why Start a Blog?
Not a Writer? Me Neither.
When I started Niche 3D LLC, I didn’t expect to also start writing. But here I am — launching a blog.
Why? Because building a business isn’t just about parts and printers. It’s about sharing ideas, telling your story, and connecting with people. This blog — The Niche Notes — is one the ways for me to do all of that.
I’m an engineer by trade. I think like an engineer, solve problems like one, and — unsurprisingly — write like one. My natural tendency is to be direct, technical, to the point, and use too many lists. That’s great for CAD and product development, but not always for communication to an audience.
But entrepreneurship has taught me that it’s not enough to just do great work — you have to talk about it. Whether it’s explaining a product, telling the story behind a design, or putting your philosophy into words; communication is a key part of growing any business.
I’ve realized that your business is you, and if you don’t show up — with your voice, your values, your perspective — then people won’t know what makes you different.
Why Blog in 2025?
Yes, blogs might seem like a relic of the 2000s. But for me, this blog isn’t about chasing trends — it’s about building habits, sharing value, and giving Niche 3D a voice that reflects the business and my work.
Here’s what The Niche Notes is here to do:
🧠 Sharpen My Thinking
Writing helps me organize my thoughts, refine ideas, and bring clarity to concepts that might otherwise stay stuck in my head. I’m not someone who naturally writes things down — this blog is a way to break that habit.
✍️ Practice Storytelling
I want to get better at sharing the “why” behind the things I build — and become a stronger communicator in the process. Stories help products and services stand out.
📣 Build a Connection
This blog gives me a space to show the human side of my work. Not just printed parts, but how they got there — and why they matter. It’s also a way to share my take on entrepreneurship and additive manufacturing — whether people relate or not, it might start a conversation.
🧰 Provide Value
I’ll be writing posts that help others explore what’s possible with 3D printing and entrepreneurship — whether you’re a teacher, engineer, hobbyist, or founder.
🌱 Document the Journey
Starting a business is full of lessons, failures, and growth moments. Sharing that helps me grow — and might help someone else too.
Using AI Transparently
Since it’s 2025, it’s fair to ask: Did AI write this whole blog for me?
The short answer: No — I did.
The longer answer: I use AI as a tool. It helps me check clarity, organize ideas, and sometimes even create images. But the thoughts, words, and voice are mine.
I believe in using the best tools available to improve your craft. That applies to 3D printers, and it applies to writing too.
